Adoption Application

We DO NOT do Same day adoptions. References and your designated Veterinarian, plus Landlord if applicable, must be interviewed by phone prior to the adoption upon reciept of your application. This process takes 3-4 days, sometimes longer.

Adoption policies
  • You must be 18 years of age or older and present a current photo ID at the time of adoption.

  • All members of the household must be present for the adoption and want the cat(s).

  • A Veterinary Reference is required to ensure all pre-existing pets in the home are up to date on required vaccinations. (You must have a preliminary visit scheduled at time of adoption)

  • If you rent or lease, check with your landlord approval by phone or in writing is required before adopting. Be sure you are allowed to have a pet and can afford all required pet deposits.

  • Cats being adopted as therapy animals must include a letter from your prescribing doctor indicating that you're able to physically and/or mentally care for the cat.

  • All animals currently in the home must be up to date, as confirmed by your veterinarian, on all shots prior to the cat coming home. (This can be done while we hold the cat, if necessary)

  • We may limit the number of animals that can be adopted at any one time, require certain animals to be adopted together, or enforce other restrictions regarding other pets or young children. These restrictions are in place to give every animal the best chance for success in a new home.

  • All cats and kittens will be spayed/neutered prior to going home.

  • If an adoption fails for any reason, please return the cat to US. No questions asked, we will attempt to find it another home.

  • Adoption fees are non-refundable, for any reason.

  • All kittens under 6 months of age are $100, regardless of whether they are altered. All cats six months and older are $75.

  • We reserve the right to refuse any adoption.

Other pets

We recommend that you do not immediately expose your existing pets to a new pet. Consider how you will manage an isolation period and be sure all existing pets are up to date on vaccinations and other routine health care before bringing a new pet home. Not all pets are instant friends and may require temporary or intermittent separation to ensure a smooth transition. Some pets are happy to share their home within a week or two, others may take a month or longer to adjust.

Time commitment

All cats making the transition to a new home will need time to adjust to a new family. If you aren’t prepared to invest your time to teach your new pet appropriate behavior and help the animal adjust, you should not consider adopting a pet at this time. Please make a lifetime commitment to your pet. Remember that the animal you choose has already been abandoned or unwanted at least once in its life. Cats may live 12 to 15 years or more. Your thoughtful consideration, preparation and commitment will help insure a lifelong placement.
